About Cloud81
I am Alan Perkins, Chief Innovation Officer Asia-Pacific Japan, for HP’s Cloud Division, based in Singapore. In this role, I am responsible for helping businesses understand how to best take advantage of emerging technologies. I live and breathe the philosophy that innovation is the key to a better world.
Prior to joining HP, I was CTO for Rackspace Asia-Pacific. I spent more than ten years at software developer Altium in key leadership and specialist consulting roles, including seven years as the CIO.
During my tenure at Altium, I played a pivotal role preparing and implementing strategies to move the entire business systems to the cloud and was directly responsible for driving company-wide efficiencies and innovations.
I was named by The Australian newspaper as one of the Top 20 people to watch in technology 2012, and in 2009, was a finalist for the IDC Asia-Pacific CIO of the Year Award. In the same year I won an Enterprise Innovation Award for Cloud innovation from IDC.
Cloud81 is a forum to share my thoughts about various aspects of the cloud. My thoughts are my own. I welcome comments, and am keen to see others learn from my experiences, both the good and the not so good.
Why did I call this blog Cloud81?
